dc.description.abstract The most significant single change has been the adoption of the rationalized M.K.S. system of units, which is now increasingly used in teaching the subject. For the benefit of readers who find themselves in the transition stage of conversion from the C.G.S. to the M.K.S. system, a comprehensive comparison between the formulae in the two systems has been made, and we hope that this will be helpful to those who are not yet entirely conversant with the M.K.S. system. en_US
